• One rather unique and largely unknown response to an eclipse is
found in 1886, in which one tribe reportedly believed that the eclipse was caused another
one upon the moon itself.
• An eclipse in Turkey in 585 B.C. caused 15 years of fighting come to
an end when it was interpreted as a sign from the Gods that perhaps they should give peace a try.
• More often than not eclipses were a source of fear and anxiety without a
scientific explanation of the motion of the Earth, sun and moon.
